Bridge and Civil Engineering
Granite with its attractive
appearance and a compression
strength several times greater
than concrete, resistance
to impact and resistance to
the difficult environments
of road salt, deicing chemicals,
salt and brackish water, and
repeated freeze thaw cycles
has been an important factor
for civil engineering applications
for bridge piers, bridge cladding,
sea walls, etc. Fletcher
Granite is the largest supplier
in North America of dimensional
granite for bridge and civil
engineering projects.
Fletcher Granite has superior in-quarry production of thick slab and rough block materials. Our high capacity splitters are able to handle slabs up to 10 feet wide and 42 inches high. Skilled tradesmen and state-of-the-art equipment enable our fabrication plant to operate efficiently. A connection to the main rail line enables transportation of granite material to and from our quarries and mills to destinations throughout North America. Fletcher Granite can dependably serve any civil engineering project calling for dimensional granite.

Fletcher Granite has provided
dimensional granite for numerous
bridge projects including
all three of the so called
14th Street bridges as well
as the Theodore Roosvelt bridge
over the Potomac River in
Washington, DC, the Woodrow
Wilson Bridge in Alexandria,
Virginia, the Severn River
Bridge in Annapolis Maryland,
many of the Delaware River
and Schuykill River bridges
in Delaware, Pennsylvania,
and New Jersey, the Verrizano
Narrows and Goethals bridges
to Long Island, essentially
all the Connecticut Turnpike
bridges, the several Narraganset
Bay bridges in Rhode Island,
and many more throughout
the Northeast.
